Mr. Jolivet previously specialized in complex commercial, labor/employment, trademark dispute, intellectual property, and product liability litigation, and assisted with sexual harassment, trade secret theft, and breach of contract trials in Federal court. He also coordinated complex product liability defense cases for international auto manufacturers in product defect and consumer warranty actions and wrote and argued motions in California state court in Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act actions.
Mr. Jolivet, prior to passing the bar, worked with the University of Southern California Immigration Clinic representing undocumented asylum seekers on both the detainee and non-detainee dockets in the Los Angeles Immigration Court.
Mr. Jolivet also spent time clerking for Baker Marquart, LLP, an intellectual property and commercial litigation firm in Westwood, CA, where he assisted with intellectual property cases involving copyright, trademark, and trade secret disputes. He has helped prepare an appeal before the Ninth Circuit in a high-stakes copyright case, conducting rigorous legal research and briefing for the case. Mr. Jolivet prepared the initial complaint in a trademark case alleging infringement of a production company’s trademark by another studio. Moreover, he worked closely with other associates at the firm on complex commercial disputes, including breach of contract, and discovery and preparations for depositions. Mr. Jolivet continued to clerk for the firm through his third year of law school and gained valuable experience in intellectual property litigation.
